Student Wellness
At least one member of Albuquerque Academy’s counseling team is embedded in each division so they can focus on the particular needs of their age group and get to know the students better. In addition to supporting students and teaching health classes, the counseling and human development department leads the implementation of a comprehensive social and emotional development program called RULER, an evidence-based approach to social-emotional learning developed by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. Students receive lessons on the development of emotional intelligence skills through advisory, family time, and other settings. The work of developing emotional intelligence is foundational to students’ success and well-being now, in their careers, and throughout their lives.

Student Health
The Academy has a full-time registered nurse and a nurse’s aide in the health office on West Campus. They tend to minor injuries, assess illnesses, determine the need for additional care, and oversee the special medical needs, such as allergies, of our students when they are on campus or on a school-related trip.

Campus Security
The security team patrols Albuquerque Academy’s 312-acre campus and manages campus access. In case of emergency, including weather-related announcements, the school communicates using text messages, email, and phone calls using an emergency communication system. In addition, the school regularly practices emergency procedures such as fire drills and lockdowns.
